The beginning of Atlas Botanicals!
My name is Arman and I'm from the Los Angeles area of sunny southern california (which is overrated).
I've been studying and growing plants for almost a decade now and is my primary interest along with zoology. Besides collecting plants I also like learning more about ethnobotany since it became more of an interest from when I used to study veterinary medicine in school. I used to work for a prominent art studio but have since moved on to find and do something more around my general interests and hobbies however I do still continue to draw in order to build up my portfolio. I do try to travel a lot since it's my most favorite thing to do especially when it comes to plants but I also have a keen interest in natural and human history so I try to visit as many museums as possible since I'm kind of a paleontology/archaeology nerd as well. I also enjoy going to different regions because I love meeting new people and trying to emerge myself into different cultures in order to gain a better perspective about different lifestyles in addition to gaining more knowledge and further enhancing the spiritual experience.
My interest in plant sciences developed over the years mostly from my close family as I watched my grandmother and father meticulously caring for their plants throughout the years. My father who comes from a state in Mexico that is known for it's agricultural based economy taught me many things in the beginning along with what I've gained from some of the most prominent botanists and researchers from around the globe whom generously shared their knowledge and experiences with me for which I will always be grateful for.
I want this blog to be travel and plant science focused but you may occasionally see a critter or two sneak in here and there since I'm a sucker for dogs and other fluffy/scaly animals.
Please read on and hope you enjoy!
Arman Villanueva
